Individual counseling for adults
People seek therapy for all kinds of reasons. We all need support from time to time. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family stressors, or other challenges, it is possible to live a life filled with meaningful experiences and relationships. As a therapist, I will work collaboratively with you to establish and work toward goals that are meaningful to you.
Individual counseling for adolescents ages 12-17
Life is complicated and being a teenager is not easy. I have been there! As a therapist, I take a respectful and collaborative approach. I understand you are the expert on your life, experiences, and relationships. I work with you to form goals that are meaningful to you, drawing on your strengths and what internal and external resources have helped you thus far.
Individual
I provide individual counseling to adolescents and adults. I believe in the importance of looking at the whole person—our strengths, interests, goals, relationships and how we can create deeper connections to ourselves and our communities in order to live a more meaningful life.
Strengths-based
I maintain a strengths-based approach to counseling. I believe all individuals have the innate skills and resources within them to overcome life’s challenges; sometimes we all need a little support in harnessing our inner strengths and abilities.
client-centered
As a provider, I understand that you are the expert on yourself and that you already possess some expertise in managing whatever challenges brought you to counseling. I take a collaborative approach in working with you to establish and work toward your goals.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfullness-based approach to psychotherapy. It is rooted in traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, however with ACT, individuals learn to make space for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. They learn they can take action steps to live a meaningful life, guided by their values despite their struggles.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) Is a counseling approach that is grounded in empathy; it helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and harness their internal motivation in order to change their behavior. MI is a short-term model that can be used as a stand alone therapy approach or in conjunction with other treatment models.
Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT) is a short-term therapy model that is client-centered and strengths based. This approach is centered around the idea that individuals already have all the tools and resources within them to resolve their own problems and improve their lives. It helps clients solve problems by exploring and reinforcing the behaviors that are already helping to move them in the right direction towards positive change.
