About Nustreet Counseling

Maintaining our mental health and the health of our communities is critical and mental health care should be accessible to all.

About Bethany

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in a large family and my relationships with my family and friends are of the utmost importance to me. I identify as Black, African American, and biracial. I grew up in a community that did not reflect my identity or culture, so I understand the struggle that can come with trying to establish your identity and place in a system that was not designed for you

I believe that as humans, we are relational and we thrive when we have relationships, supports, and resources that meet our needs. I have a passion for promoting racial and social justice, and helping others. In my spare time you might find me dancing, traveling, eating good food, chilling with my cats (I only have two!) and gardening.

Background & Studies

I attended Western Oregon University where I earned a B.A. in international studies with a minor in Spanish. I completed both the Master of Social Work Program in 2016, and the School Counseling Licensure Program in 2020 at Portland State University. I am experienced in working with individuals, adolescents, and families, both in medical and educational settings. I am currently a practicing school counselor, so I offer evening and occasional weekend appointments.

I understand that making the decision to engage in counseling is a big step and finding the right provider is key. Trust and a strong therapeutic relationship are the foundation to achieving therapeutic goals. I offer a free phone consultation to potential clients; please feel free to reach out to me if you are considering counseling and would like to see if we would be a good fit.
